World Pool Masters Champion. Winner of Croydon Open, Basildon
Open, Chichester Open, Wolverhampton Open, Darlington Open, Bristol
Open. Youngest ever UK No.1.
Hundal had a real break-out season in 2005, that saw him move
from the backwaters of the UK 9-ball scene into the front line
of world pool following a string of impressive performances culminating
in victory in the World Pool Masters last September. A superb
comeback win over Rodney Morris in the final moved Hundal to
centre stage, a position he must now work hard to establish himself
in.
The West London-based Hundal had always been one of the rising
stars of the UK pool scene, and in the early half of 2005 hit
a purple patch as he won five consecutive tournaments on the
UK tours to rise above the crowd. It got better though at the
World Pool Championship in Kaohsiung last July as Hundal moved
through the group stages only to run into tournament favourite
Yang Chung-shin in the last 64.
Hundal rose to the occasion superbly as he played the perfect
game to demolish Yang 10-4. A narrow defeat in the next round
to Morris was disappointing but revenge was sweet at the Masters.
Supremely confident, Hundal will have everything to prove as
he defends his title in Egmond.
